"Friends" actor Fisher Stevens has apologized to his former castmates for acting like an a--hole.

The 57-year-old, who played Phoebe's psychiatrist boyfriend in season one of the beloved sitcom, explained his bad behavior in the latest episode of PeopleTV's Couch Surfing.

"At that moment in my career, I had never done a sitcom before," he said in a video clip shared by Entertainment Weekly. "I had never heard of 'Friends' because it was just the beginning of the show and I didn't watch TV at the time much."

Stevens said he was eager to join Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer to film an episode of "Friends" upon receiving the script but after learning his lines and flying to Los Angeles from New York, he discovered the entire script had been rewritten.

"Because that's what sitcoms did. And I didn't know that," Stevens said. "I was kind of an a--hole, I have to admit 'cos I'm like, 'What do you mean? So I have to relearn lines that you've written that are worse than what you'd originally written?' Yeah, I was a d---. I've rarely seen any of those people on 'Friends' again, but I'm sure if you asked them about me, they would go, 'What a New York snob.'"

Stevens used the opportunity to try and make his past behavior right by apologizing to the cast of "Friends."

"Yeah, I'm sorry guys. I'm sorry I was a d--- to you all. I apologize. I was bad, I was wrong," he said before joking that he was hoping to be asked to make an appearance on the "Friends" reunion.

Filming for the unscripted special was scheduled to take place in March 2020 but things were put on hold due to the coronavirus. Perry has since revealed that filming for the "Friends" reunion is scheduled for March this year. The 51-year-old actor, who plays Chandler in the hit series, announced the news via Twitter.

"Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March," Perry wrote. "Looks like we have a busy year coming up."
