Two firefighters mowed a veteran's lawn in Alabama after responding to a call that the elderly man was having chest pains while doing yard work Saturday.
"The 30-year veteran was transported to the hospital for treatment. In the meantime, the crew returned back to his home and finished mowing the lawn," the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Department said in a Facebook post commending firefighter/paramedic Tommy Carter and firefighter Timothy Kennedy.
The post drew widespread attention on social media.
"I could tell that he was a kind, gentle, genuine person, and sometimes you meet people like that during this job and they touch your heart," Carter said, according to WBRC-TV. "That makes the decision even easier when you meet someone that has that kind of personality."
Twitter users shared praise for the act of kindness.
