"Empire" cast members endorsed Hillary Clinton in a campaign video released Wednesday, with stars of the hit Fox show mentioning gun laws, women's rights, and Black Lives Matter.
Titled "What Will You Say," the 60-second video features Gabourey Sidibe, Tasha Smith, Jussie Smollett, Trai Byers, Bryshere Gray, Grace Byers, Taraji P. Henson, and Lee Daniels.
"The violence and nasty rhetoric against mankind is unacceptable," Byers says in the clip after Gray lists names of several people whose deaths are cited by the Black Lives Matter movement.
"So many women and men died for us to have the right to vote," Daniels says. "Every time we sit out, we dishonor their sacrifices."
The ad is the latest move by Clinton to appeal to African-American voters, The Huffington Post reported, noting that the Democratic presidential nominee visited a black church in Charlotte, North Carolina, over the weekend and fielded questions from a black mother on Tuesday near Philadelphia.
The ad also is the latest avenue Daniels has used to voice his support of Clinton. The Oscar-nominated director was a speaker at the Democratic National Convention and called this year's race the "most important election of our lifetime."
The Clinton campaign is spending $30 million on digital advertising to connect with young voters, Time magazine reported.
The ad drew praise from Clinton supporters on Twitter.
