The “Dancing with the Stars” lineup for its all-athlete season includes Olympic figure skaters Adam Rippon and Tonya Harding, Entertainment Tonight and Us Weekly revealed, plus Olympic snowboarder Jamie Anderson.
There has been wild speculation about who would take part in the upcoming "DWTS" all-athlete season, which premieres April 30 on ABC, and an anonymous source finally dropped some confirmed names to news sites earlier this week.
The new season will be part of a celebrity comeback for Harding that included the release of biopic “I, Tonya” earlier this year which catapulted her back into the public eye, The Express reported.
For years following the attack on her 1994 Winter Olympics rival Nancy Kerrigan, Harding was flying below the radar. Her husband allegedly hired a bodyguard to smack Kerrigan in the knee and Harding ended up having to walk away from her Olympic dream.
For Rippon it “could be a great opportunity and it would be really fun,” he said during a Facebook Live interview held at Entertainment Tonight’s Los Angeles studio. “I've always wanted to learn how to dance, because I've just been a solo act, like a one-man show.”
It would be an intense few weeks for the figure skater, who has already been confirmed for the “Stars on Ice” tour which conficts with the dates of “Dancing with the Stars.”
Another athlete set to participate is Olympic softball champ Jenny Finch, a source told Us Weekly.
“Dancing with the Stars” has previously included athletes, who have shone on the dance floor.
In season six, Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi won the competition, Billboard noted, and in season 18 Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis bagged the winning title.
