An occasional punk rock frontman by night, Dr. Daryl Wilson is an ER doctor and administrator in Naperville, Illinois, during the day.
Wilson, 47, is director of management of the emergency room in Naperville where he works, and also is the lead singer of the Bollweevils, a local punk rock band that plays once a month or so at clubs in the area, the Naperville Sun reported.
Having another side to himself is an escape from the problems and stress that can come with working in an ER as a doctor, Wilson told the newspaper. The punk rock gig, along with his wife and three children, help him stay centered.
Wilson has been with the band since 1989, nearly 30 years, the Sun reported. The band writes its own original music and practices at a venue in Chicago.
Wilson's daughters, 5, 5, and 3, have seen him perform and enjoy his music as well.
The punk rock doc has traveled around the U.S. and internationally with the band, but prefers to stay close to home so he doesn’t miss too much time with family.
“You miss your wife, you miss your kids,” Wilson told the Sun of touring. “In the end, who’s going to be with you?”
Wilson used to work at a hospital in Chicago but moved to Naperville, which he considers his hometown, to take his current position, the Sun reported.
“Naperville is such a great place to raise a family,” he said. “We might move away for a bit, but we all come back to raise a family.”
