Denise Huskins, a 30-year-old physical therapist, was reportedly kidnapped from her home in Northern California on Monday morning, and is now being held for ransom.
CBS San Francisco reported that the FBI has stepped in to assist local law enforcement in searching for her — and on Tuesday cadaver dogs led search crews to the marshland of Mare Island in Vallejo.
Vallejo police Lt. Kenny Park said that they were alerted to Huskins' apparent abduction several hours after it took place. A 30-year-old man, identified as a boyfriend who lived with Huskins, called in a report just before 2 p.m. on Monday. Police say the man is not a suspect or person of interest at this point, and has so far been cooperative with the investigation.
"All I can tell you is that there was a ransom demand," Park said during a news conference.
Huskins' car, a 2000 Toyota Camry, was also taken at some point and found at an undisclosed location the same day.
"My biggest fear is the horrors that might be going through. That's my biggest fear, is that she's going through such horror. She doesn't deserve that," said Mike Huskins, her father, who resides in Huntington Beach in Southern California.
Huskins is said to be 5-foot-7-inches, 150 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes.
