A delivery man delivered a simple dream – a fridge box – for a 6-year-old boy who wanted to make "an awesome box fort" with it, even though it meant putting some extra miles on his truck in Mississippi.
Wendy Bailey told WAPT-TV that her son Brandon had waited for two weeks for the family's new refrigerator to be delivered, not for the comforts of cold food, but for the huge box to play in.
Brandon was disappointed, though, when the refrigerator finally arrived from Lowe's, but without the box.
So delivery man Alejandro Porter made a return trip to the home in Rankin County, this time with an empty refrigerator box for Brandon, according to his mother.
"The kind delivery man from Lowe's felt so bad, he went out of his way to go back and get him a box," Bailey said on Facebook. "He said, 'Every little boy needs an awesome box fort.' Now, that's going above and beyond. There's one thrilled 6-year-old in my house this morning who also learned an important lesson today about kindness."
Bailey said the small act of kindness was a big deal for her family, WAPT-TV said.
"I honestly can't say enough about how kind the man was to go out of his way for a 6-year-old," Bailey said. "And in turn, it was a moment to talk to my son about the fruits of the spirit and how a simple, small act of kindness can make someone else so very happy.
