A man grabbed a ball thrown into the stands at Wrigley Field on Sunday that was meant for a kid, so Cubs star shortstop Javier Baez delivered a double for the young fan, including one with an autograph.
Cubs first base coach Will Venable tossed the baseball to the young boy seated in the first row during the bottom of the fourth inning as the team played the St. Louis Cardinals. The ball, though, got away from the child and bounced under the seat, USA Today reported.
A middle-aged man in the second row then dug out the ball and handed it to a woman next to him, the newspaper's blog For The Win wrote.
The Sporting News said Baez wanted to make sure the young fan was happy, despite the incident, and gave him two balls, one signed by the player.
The Cubs tweeted out a photo of the child with the new baseballs.
Many on social media appeared to be upset at the unidentified man.
Some, though, said the video didn’t tell the whole story and the man was being ridiculed unjustly.
