Chrissy Teigen revealed that she has been sober for four weeks. The model made the announcement on Tuesday in response to a fan's comment on an Instagram video of her dancing and smiling.
"I need whatever drugs you're on!!" the Instagram user wrote.
"4 weeks sober," Teigen replied.
Her revelation drew hundreds of messages of support from fans, many of which shared their own stories of getting clean.
"I’m on day 76 sober and haven’t felt this good in a long time," one follower responded.
"23 days for me. We got this," another wrote.
"8 years here. This is the best gift you can give yourself and your family," a third added.
It has been a tough few months for Teigen, who has previously admitted to struggling with alcohol, and although details of her sobriety are unclear, it appears as if she may have relapsed after suffering a miscarriage earlier this year.
In 2017, Teigen admitted to Cosmopolitan that there was a history of alcohol abuse in her family and said she was cutting back on alcohol because she is the type of person who "can't just have one drink." At one point, she was "drinking too much" and needed to re-evaluate her habits.
"I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show," Teigen told the outlet. "And then a bunch at the awards show. And then I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected. And that feeling, there's just nothing like that. You feel horrible. It's not a good look for me, for John [Legend], for anybody."
Teigen's big blow came in September. The TV personality was hospitalized after experiencing severe bleeding during pregnancy. At the time, she said her unborn son was strong and she hoped they could make it out of the "danger zone," but days later she revealed the loss of her and husband Legend's unborn child.
"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before," Teigen captioned a heartbreaking black-and-white Instagram photo of herself sitting in a hospital bed with tears streaming down her face.
"We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough."
