Chrissy Teigen has been hospitalized for pregnancy complications and is worried about her unborn son making it out of "the danger zone."
The mother, who shares two children with husband John Legend, revealed that she was admitted to hospital on Sunday after experiencing severe bleeding. She was placed on mandatory bed rest after her bleeding issues began roughly a month ago, but the complication worsened over the weekend.
"We’re talking like more than your period, girls, it’s definitely not spotting. A lot of people spot but it’s usually fine. Mine was a lot," the 34-year-old model and cookbook author said in an Instagram story on Sunday. She explained that "it was at the point today where it was like never stopping."
Teigen said her growing baby was doing well, but the extreme bleeding meant that her placenta "is really, really, weak," according to People.
"So his house is like falling apart," she said. "It didn’t have a good foundation to begin with, he didn’t have the strongest chance at the very, very beginning, so all we’re doing now is trying to make sure he has a lot of fluid around him and I’m resting obviously as much as possible."
Teigen said the situation was difficult because there was not much she could do for her unborn child.
"I'm in that weird in-between time of it being really dangerous to try anything," she said. "Basically if I can make it through the next few weeks, if little boy can make it through the next few weeks, then, you know, we can go from there and be able to kind of get through the danger zone or whatever," Teigen continued. "But we have to get through this first. So yeah, it is scary. But it's scary in the way that there's just really nothing to do."
