Chrissy Teigen drew widespread attention after posting a video of herself being tested for the coronavirus, and now she has revealed why she underwent testing: because she is having her breast implants removed.
The cookbook author made the announcement Tuesday on social media.
"Hi hi! So I posted myself getting a covid test on the twitter, as I’m getting surgery soon. A lot of people are understandably curious (and nosey!) so I’ll just say it here: I’m getting my boobs out!," she captioned an Instagram photo of herself topless, with hearts covering her breasts.
Teigen was prompted to make the revelation after she was slammed earlier on Tuesday for sharing the video of herself being tested for COVID-19 to Twitter. Many followers criticized her for highlighting the divide between those who were privileged enough to be tested and those who were not.
"You realized like 50k people are no longer gonna get tested now?," one Twitter user replied to Teigen's post.
"Man, I wish I had the privilege of being tested," wrote another.
"The #privilege of getting medical care at and inside the convenience of your home. That's out of reach for millions, yeah," a third follower commented.
Prompted by the response she received on social media, Teigen chose to put an end to the comments by admitting that she was having breast surgery.
"They’ve been great to me for many years but I’m just over it," she wrote in her Instagram post, referencing her breast implants.
"I’d like to be able to zip a dress in my size, lay on my belly with pure comfort! No biggie!," she continued. "So don’t worry about me! All good. I’ll still have boobs, they’ll just be pure fat."
