Cheryl's birthday is the title of a math problem that has stumped millions after going viral this week.
The New York Times reported that the head-scratcher was originally posted to Facebook by Singaporean television host Kenneth Kong. The problem was soon posted on Twitter and Instagram, and soon the whole world was flummoxed.
Kong originally stated that the math problem was frequently given to fifth graders, which initially alarmed many, as the problem is quite difficult.
Organizers for the Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiads contest soon stepped forward, however, explaining that they had created the question, and that it was intended for high school students.
"Being Question 24 out of 25 questions, this is a difficult question meant to sift out the better students," the organizers wrote in a statement,
The Washington Post reported.
Those curious to find out how to answer the question would do well to watch the brilliant explainer video produced by the BBC, embedded below.
