Disgraced Hillsong Pastor Carl Lentz is hoping to land his own TV deal, according to a report.
The 33-year-old father of three's reputation fell to pieces after he was axed by the church amid a cheating scandal. Then, shortly after Lentz admitted to cheating on his wife of 17 years, Hillsong members came forth with allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior. Now Lentz is trying to "rebuild his image" by turning to the entertainment industry, a source revealed to The Sun.
"His name is bigger than ever and he knows that. He’s trying to use that for his advantage," the insider said. Lentz has reportedly reached out to several producers and studio executives but "no one wants to touch him," the source added.
Lentz is allegedly hoping to secure a deal for a "faith-based Netflix series" as well as a reality TV show, but so far he has "not come close to making that happen yet."
A second source said Lentz had been "working on a few projects on the West Coast," including TV concepts, before he moved to Los Angeles with his family. A third insider added that Lentz would "likely also hit the speaking circuit and do some TV stuff after laying low for a while" as "money and fame are his motivators."
In December it emerged that Lentz was seeking help for his mental health. A source revealed to People that he would be undergoing "treatment at an outpatient facility that specializes in depression, anxiety, and pastoral burnout."
Speaking with The Sun, the first insider said Lentz knew he had to seek help. Now that he has, "he wants to use all of the attention he’s received to boost his career."
