As President Barack Obama continues appointing his cabinet for his second term in office, critics are noticing a pattern: White males are being appointed to all the positions.
The cries of hypocrisy are mounting, as memories of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's "binders full of women" bubble up. Twitter users took up a crusade against the new cabinet and the way it leans away from diversity.
When Labor Secretary Hilda Solis announced her resignation yesterday, it left only seven women in Obama's cadre of top advisors.
Even its many friends in the news media say the administration has, at the least, an optics problem. A photo posted by the White House that ran in the New York Times caught the attention of the right. In it, Obama sits with senior advisors, and all of them are white men. Only one woman, Valerie Jarrett, was partially in the picture — and it was only her leg.
The photo just urged on Twitter users.
