A 103-year-old Massachusetts woman had every reason to celebrate after surviving a bout of the coronavirus, and that is exactly what she did- - with an ice-cold beer! Family members were also celebrating upon learning that their "feisty" grandmother had recovered, USA Today reported.

They were not sure whether or not Jennie Stejna would survive after testing positive for COVID-19 three weeks ago. She was the first to contract the virus in her nursing home and was moved into a separate ward with a low-grade fever. Staffers made sure there was always someone by her bedside and, when her condition worsened, they told family members to prepare themselves.

They were ready for the worst and called to say their goodbyes but then the unexpected happened. Stejna recovered. There was only one way to celebrate and that was with her all-time favorite beer, a Bud Light, which she leisurely sipped on from the comfort of her bed.

"This feisty old Polish grandmother of ours officially beat the coronavirus," family member, Adam Gunn told USA Today in a report published Thursday. "We’re truly very thankful."

Stejna has two children, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Her husband of 54 years, Teddy, died in 1992 at age 82.

To keep herself busy, Stejna became an avid bingo player who would also "sit outside and listen to the Red Sox on the radio," Gunn said. It turns out she is a "hardcore Boston sports fan," he added.
