Bradley Bozeman made a winning night even better when the University of Alabama offensive lineman proposed to his girlfriend after his team won the NCAA 2018 College Football Playoff national championship in overtime against Georgia.
The senior Crimson Tide center proposed to girlfriend Nikki Hegstetter on the sidelines after the game ended, and she happily and tearfully said yes, Sports Illustrated reported.
Bozeman, a team captain and first-team All-SEC award winner, said he probably would’ve waited a day to propose if Alabama had lost to Georgia, but he decided to go for it after the team emerged victorious, AL.com reported.
“I was thinking how I’d do it, but I completely left my mind, and I just went for it,” Bozeman told AL.com.
The couple embraced and kissed ecstatically after he put the ring on her finger, and they celebrated both the win and the engagement with family, friends. and teammates, SI reported.
“I don’t know how he’s ever going to top that,” teammate and fellow offensive lineman JC Hassenaeur said, AL.com reported.
Bozeman is one of the most well-liked players on the team and is expected to be drafted to the NFL for next season, AL.com reported.
The Twitterverse ate up the proposal, of course.
