NFL quarterbacks Matt Barkley and Robert Griffin III may face each other on the football field twice this season after being matched up early with dueling weddings over the weekend.

Barkley, a rookie with the Philadelphia Eagles, married Brittany Langdon in a private ceremony, reported Los Angeles Times writer Chuck Schilken. Langdon, who played collegiate soccer at Seattle Pacific, recently graduated, according to Schilken.

Although the Los Angeles Times said the couple kept their relationship private, Barkley could not help himself in announcing the wedding to his 117,000-plus Twitter followers.

Barkley tweeted on Saturday: "Wedding Day! Beyond blessed, thankful and excited to marry the girl of my dreams and my best friend. Praise the Lord!"

Griffin married Rebecca Liddicoat in Denver on the same day, according to Comcast SportsNet Washington. They had been engaged since 2010 while both attended Baylor, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Griffin, likewise, took to Twitter on Saturday to say: "The easiest way to say It......BIG DAY!"

Griffin's relationship was a little more high profile, planting candles around indoor football facility at Baylor and secretly inviting her family down for the surprise proposal in 2010. He even had one of his football teammates strumming a guitar while he popped the question, according to the Star-Telegram.

The Huffington Post reported that Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan and Baylor coach Art Briles both attended the Denver wedding, where Liddicoat is from.

It will soon be back to reality for Barkley and Griffin. Barkley, a fourth round pick from Southern California, will be fighting Eagles veteran and former All-Pro Michael Vick for the starting quarterback spot with Nick Fowles and Dennis Dixon, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Eagles are trying to bounce back from a 4-12 season that saw Vick injured and Fowles, as his backup, struggle most of the year. It will be the first season for Chip Kelly as coach.

Griffin, in the meantime will be trying to bounce back from an injury to high right knee in the NFC Wild Card game after winning NFL Rookie Offensive Player of the Year honors a year ago.
