The second “Bohemian Rhapsody” trailer, released Tuesday, reveals more footage from the Freddie Mercury biopic and shows the formation of his band that would become hugely popular.
Malek shows prowess in his portrayal of Mercury, both in the early long-haired days of Queen’s success and the later macho performances, concluding with Live Aid in 1985. He even shows Mercury’s humorous side, responding to an angry outburst by bandmate Roger Taylor (Ben Hardy_ by saying, “Roger, there’s only room in this band for one hysterical queen.”
A previous trailer showed the band’s conflict over Mercury’s experimentation, which was groundbreaking at the time and led to the band’s success. The new "Bohemian Rhapsody" trailer shows more of the conflict, but focuses more on the success that followed, complete with huge audiences and powerful performances.
A bandmate is shown saying to Mercury, “You’re a legend,” to which he replies, “We’re all legends.”
The trailer also hints at Mercury’s sexuality and his AIDS diagnosis.
“What if I don’t have time?” Mercury says at one point. It is still unknown whether the movie depicts his 1991 death at age 45, one day after he went public with his diagnosis.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” will open in theaters Nov. 2.
The Twitter buzz was strong with fan anticipation for the movie.
