Bobbi Kristina Brown's family was making drug rehab plans for her just days before she was found unconscious in a bathtub at her home in suburban Atlanta earlier this year.

Brown, the daughter of late singer Whitney Houston and R&B entertainer Bobby Brown, died July 26 at a hospice center in Duluth, Georgia, noted E! News. Her manner of death and its timing were eerily similar to her mother's death in February 2012.

Pat Houston, her aunt who also served as Whitney Houston's manager and confidante, told "Entertainment Tonight" that she was trying to find help for her niece before she was hospitalized.

"When we really found out that Krissy was in trouble, we were really making plans to do something about it," said Pat Houston "But it came too late."

In February, sources told People magazine that Brown was regularly using heroin, cocaine and Xanax in the months before she was found unconscious. The sources said she was a heavy drinker on top of her drug use.

Another source told the magazine that since her mother's death, Brown had been "in and out" of rehab and was distraught over the approaching anniversary of her mother's death, which fed the addictions.

Houston told People magazine that Brown discovered her aunt wanted her to check into rehab just days before she was found in the bathtub in January.

"I decided she was going to rehab because that's where we had called to set up for her to go," said Houston. "She didn't make it. She found out that I was coming for her, not to do an intervention, because I didn't want to go through that with her."

"I just wanted her to come back and talk to me so we could figure out how this was going to take place because she needed to go," said Houston.

Houston said it was a couple of days before her niece was found unconscious that Brown had conflicting feelings about attending rehab.

"She was adamant with everyone else that she didn't want to go, but she didn't tell me that," Houston said. "She just texted me: 'I'm coming Auntie Pat, to talk, I love you.' That was the last that I heard from her and that I believe was either on a Wednesday or a Thursday (Jan. 28-29)."

Houston said it was on the morning of Jan. 31 that she received a call that Brown was in the hospital after she was found by boyfriend Nick Gordon in the bathtub of their home in Roswell, Georgia.

"Entertainment Tonight" reported that Brown's conservator, Bedelia C. Hargrove, in a lawsuit accused Gordon of injecting Brown with a "toxic mixture" of drugs.

Gordon's attorneys have said the lawsuit is "slanderous and meritless."
