As Monday's lopsided BCS college football championship progressed and Alabama continued to pummel top-ranked Notre Dame, viewers took to Twitter to remind each other that a game isn't over even when it's obviously over — at least according to political pundit Karl Rove.
They parodied Rove's famous "meltdown" the night of the 2012 presidential election when on Fox News he told host Megyn Kelly that, despite total disagreement with his assessment, Republican Mitt Romney still had a chance to win the race against President Barack Obama.
The jokes went even deeper as the margin widened between the teams.
Nate Silver, the statistician who famously predicted the voting outcome of all 50 states in the election, wasn’t left out of the fray. He once again made the correct prediction Monday night, though his bet against the spread was not quite so vast.
Alabama beat Notre Dame 42-14.
