Police officers in Asheville, North Carolina, responding to a homemade Slip 'N Slide complaint surprised neighbors at a block party by sliding down it themselves after deeming it safe.

Two officers responded to a complaint Tuesday that the water slide was blocking the road. Once they determined it wasn’t a problem and after talking to the neighbors for a bit, the officers each took a turn on the slide, using a trash bag and an inflatable raft to slide down the contraption into a small pool at the bottom.

“We looked at it and determined it wasn’t really an issue,” Officer Carrie Lee said in a video the department posted on Twitter. “So the first thing I said, I said I’m not here to break up your fun.”

Joe Jones said he thought he would get out of sliding because he didn’t fit into the bag, but the kids pulled out a large raft so he “had no choice” but to take his turn.

Video of the officers’ rides caught the attention of national media such as NPR and "Good Morning America," bringing the officers national attention for their antics, which turned out to be really good community outreach.
