Vanilla Almond Breeze is being recalled by parent company HP Hood LLC because the almond milk may contain real milk and is supposed to be nondairy.
Many people who have milk allergies and sensitivities could be harmed if they are exposed to it, ABC7 noted.
Other than the possible milk allergy, the product is safe to be consumed, the FDA said.
About 145,254 refrigerated half-gallon containers of the almond milk were distributed for sale in 28 states, and all of them have the use-by date of Sept. 2, 2018.
Consumers who bought the milk can return it to the purchase location for a refund or visit the Blue Diamond website and request a refund online.
A full list of the states where the milk was shipped for sale also is available on the site.
The UPC barcode of the affected products is 41570 05621.
