Gingrich to Launch Ads Against Romney in NH, SC, Fla

Tuesday, 03 January 2012 05:03 PM EST

BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) — Newt Gingrich and his allies are planning to hit back hard at Mitt Romney as the Republican presidential campaign moves east.

Campaigning in Burlington, Iowa, a few hours before the first-in the nation caucuses get under way, Gingrich said his campaign will soon launch ads in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida. Those spots will take aim at Romney's record.

And at least one pro-Gingrich super PAC says it will be getting into the fray.

A former longtime Gingrich aide now working for the pro-Gingrich super PAC Winning our Future, Rick Tyler, says the group plans to engage in the coming contests.

Gingrich blames attack ads from a super PAC backing Romney with destroying the lead he once held in Iowa polls.
