As the lengthy (six hours!) 12-12-12
Sandy Benefit Concert rolled on across the Internet and airwaves, most of its viewers — estimated to have been around 2 billion people worldwide — watched from home. But they didn’t simply sit and watch. They had to put in their two cents about the star-studded spectacle.
Everyone’s a critic, and
benefit concerts have always been multi-media events that unite cultures and societies, or at least try to. But in the age of social media, everyone gets to weigh in, and immediately. With so much commentary and play-by-play, you hardly needed to watch the actual program.
For example, we knew right away that Jon Bon Jovi ruined “Born to Run.”
We knew how everyone felt about Roger Daltrey’s very tan, very bared chest.
And we knew without question that Kanye West was wearing a leather kilt on top of leather leggings.
