After years of dithering, President Obama and his surrogates are now selling Syrian intervention at the 11th hour as limited, narrow and temporary. There will be no boots on the ground. We’re not looking to oust Bashar al-Assad or even change the course of the war. Ours is merely a reprimand to Syria for crossing the chemical weapons red line, and any action there will be, as Secretary of State John Kerry said Monday, “unbelievably small.”

After all, President Obama was elected to end wars, not start them, he says.

It’s no wonder the international community, Congress and the American people haven’t been convinced by the United States to join Obama in his uninspiring, incoherent, and likely inconsequential strategy in Syria, which he clearly sees as problematic for his image. Nobel Peace Prize winners don’t go to war.
