Tinseltown Sidesteps Campaign Finance 'Reform'

While non-profit organizations remain muzzled by campaign finance rules, Hollywood is free to shoot its mouth off.

Tinseltown isn’t expressing itself with conventional campaign advertising. No, it’s doing it with agenda-driven movies.

In addition to

Another attempt to bypass the regs and exert influence is the upcoming piece of propaganda called “The Hunting of the President,” a celluloid presentation of the book with the same name. It’s about

Then there’s “Silver City,” a movie in which the central character is a born-again Christian who’s part of a prominent Republican family. The character just happens to struggle with verbal fluency. The movie’s director,

The Left Coast Report is dreaming of a big ol’ red states’ box-office mutiny with no bounty.

“Kill Bill 2” co-star

Over the years she has been open about her struggle with stage fright. The actress evidently found out that a unique strategy could help her curb her nerves.

At a recent premiere of the sequel, rather than strolling down the red carpet in typical Hollywood fashion, Hannah assumed the persona of Elle Driver, her eye-patch-wearing hit-woman character from the film.

“I did all the things that my character Elle would do in the movie from showing them the finger to doing kung fu. I walked in with the cocky attitude and Elle's walk et al.,” she told reporters.

Hannah’s performance was so effective, when she came out of the theater several cops were waiting for her. The officers questioned the bold blonde and even asked her to take a Breathalyzer test. They let the arresting gal go after she convinced them that she was merely plying her craft.

The Left Coast Report suspects that, if other nervous women in the general population try to address their jitters by using the same bird-flipping, cocky assassin routine, we might see a big rise in the number of nervous men.

You may remember Davi as the villain Franz Sanchez in the 1989 James Bond film “License to Kill.” He also played the role of Heidi Fleiss’ boyfriend in the USA network original movie “Call Me: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss.”

I appeared with Davi on a recent installment of MSNBC’s “Scarborough Country” and was encouraged to find out that he’s part of Tinseltown’s insurgent right.

“I know a couple of my friends — quite a few — there is a conservative movement in Hollywood, and we kind of stay amongst ourselves,” he admitted on the show.

Davi spoke of the fact that people seem to separate the war in Iraq from the war on terror. He disagrees with the distinction because “the war on terrorism is part of the war with Iraq.”

Davi added: “We have to protect America. And I think that, thank God we have this administration and this president.”

Not exactly your typical Hollywood chatter. Then again, he is not exactly your typical Hollywood guy. He recently saved the daughter and house of a neighbor after a fire broke out in a Los Angeles suburb.

Larry Logdson, a high school teacher, was grateful that Davi had the courage and presence of mind to pull his 10-year-old girl out of their family home and fight the flames until the fire truck arrived.

The Left Coast Report advises, if you live in Tinseltown, be sure that at least one conservative lives in the neighborhood.

Recent studies indicate that serious problems can arise when young people indulge in too much TV. A story out of Florida drives home the point.

A Fort Myers teen-ager allegedly tried to hire a hit man to get rid of his own mother. Police arrested 17-year-old Carlos Chereza on a charge of soliciting to commit first-degree murder.

A disturbing side note to the story is that Chereza was allegedly worried about one particular occupant of the home, and it wasn’t his parent. It was the boob tube.

According to the police, they were tipped off that the young man wanted to pay to have his mother killed, so cops arranged for an undercover detective to pose as an assassin for hire.

Chereza allegedly offered the undercover detective $2,000. He was purportedly planning to get the money to pay for the hit from his mother’s bank account as an inheritance after her departure.

According to the police report, the teen gave the officer who was posing as the hit man the keys to the family’s apartment. He also supplied a map of the apartment and a picture of his mother, and requested that the hit be made to look like a burglary.

“Carlos stated that he didn’t want anything to happen to the television,” the detective wrote in the report.

The Left Coast Report hopes, if the teen is found guilty, he’s locked away for a long time – with no TV privileges.

Madonna climbs higher with Kabbalah. Tom Cruise soars spiritually with Scientology. Shirley MacLaine hits bliss on a limb. Now

Of course, folks in Hollywood are known for seeking unusual paths to happiness. But Redford has found a unique way to garner peace of mind.

The New York Post reports that the famed actor/director milks cows as a way to achieve inner satisfaction.

Redford explains that “the life-force exchange of moving milk from udder to sustenance was completely attractive to me.”

The Left Coast Report has been informed that Redford’s cow indicated the feeling is not mutual.
