Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., on Sunday tore into House Intelligence Committee head Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., charging that he’s aiming to get voters “drunk on his favorite cocktail” of leaks, “withholding facts and just outright lying.”
In an interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Zeldin defended President Donald Trump’s refusal to cooperate with the House impeachment inquiry,
“The president is saying there should be a vote for an impeachment inquiry,” he said.
“There should be a process, but instead what Adam Schiff wants is the for the U.S. to get drunk on his favorite cocktail… cherry picking leaks, withholding facts and just outright lying,” he charged.
He also defended Trump’s call to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, urging an investigation of corruption there, including activities of political rival Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
“I absolutely believe that our countries should be working together to get to the bottom of what happened,” he said.
Asked if he thought the president’s call to Zelensky was “a perfect phone call,” as Trump described it, Zeldin replied, “There was a lot of really important, great things that were discussed.”
