Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Chad Wolf said Sunday there’s no evidence of foreign meddlers trying to forge mail-in votes.
In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Wolf asserted, however, foreign influence continues to push disinformation campaigns ahead of the presidential election.
“No,” he said flatly to the question of foreign nations might forge ballots and mail them in.
“We don't have any intelligence that says [foreign nations] are attacking election infrastructure specifically,” he added.
But he said there continues to be evidence of “disinformation campaigns.”
“At the department what we're focused on is obviously those disinformation campaigns and that foreign interference that we see from a number of nation state threats such as China, Iran, Russia, and others,” he said.
“We’re focused on addressing those cyber threats to elections, and election infrastructure specifically. We are focused on that. We know about the disinformation campaigns that they are doing every day to try to influence the election.”
