The press will not be moved out of the West Wing, Donald Trump said on "Fox & Friends" on Wednesday, but some media outlets will not be allowed in.

"The press went crazy, so I said, 'Let's not move it.'" Trump said. "But some people in the press will not be able to get in.

"We have so many people that want to go in, so we'll have to just have to pick the people to go into the room. I'm sure other people will be thrilled about that."

Journalists were up in arms about reports Sunday the Trump administration was considering moving the press briefing room to larger quarters – either to the White House Conference Center or in the old Executive Office Building next door to the White House.

The reason, incoming press secretary Sean Spicer said, would be to accommodate a bigger press corps.

"There's been so much interest in covering a President Donald Trump," Spicer told Esquire.

"A question is: Is a room that has 49 seats adequate? When we had that press conference the other day, we had thousands of requests, and we capped it at 400. Is there an opportunity to potentially allow more members of the media to be part of this? That's something we're discussing."
