The chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, says "no one is walking away from the table" in continuing negotiations over the GOP healthcare plan.
In an interview Thursday on NBC News' "MTP Daily," the Texas Republican said the delayed vote on the American Health Care Act Thursday made it clear "the votes aren't here yet."
"But no one is walking away from the table," he insisted. "[Not] conservatives, not moderates, not President [Donald] Trump, certainly not House Republicans intent on repealing and replacing Obamacare."
Brady also said the delayed vote was "not unexpected.
"We have more work to do," he said. "This is a huge measure. It's normal to hit bumps in the road. We'll stay at the table. At the end of the day, we're going to repeal Obamacare."
Brady touted "huge conservative wins in this bill already," including "a trillion dollars of tax relief, more than a trillion dollars of spending cuts, the first Medicaid reforms in history, no longer funding Planned Parenthood." He added, "that's before we start to return control to the states."
"This is a hugely conservative bill," he said.
