Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, has caught flak for failing to report fundraisers held at a condominium co-owned by the wife of a prominent energy lobbyist, Vicki Hart, who rented the same condo to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt, The Hill reported.
Campaign for Accountability filed a complaint against Crapo and Hart with the Federal Election Commission.
According to The Daily Beast, Hart's condo was regularly used by Crapo's Senate campaign committee and leadership PACs for monthly fundraisers. These groups failed to report any payments to Hart or in-kind contributions for using the space to the Federal Election Commission, according to Campaign for Accountability.
"The lobbyist owners of Scott Pruitt's crash pad allowed Sen. Mike Crapo to host fundraisers at their Capitol Hill condo, seemingly at no cost," the group's executive director Daniel Stevens said in a statement.
"Is it just a coincidence that the senator also introduced legislation that benefits the clients of the townhouse's owners? The FEC should investigate whether Sen. Crapo or Vicki and J. Steven Hart broke any federal laws."
Crapo's office did not respond to a request for comment from the Hill.
