Sen. Mark Warner insisted Friday there was "no Ukranian intervention" in the 2016 election, despite comments that have been made several of his Republican colleagues, and put forth by President Donald Trump in recent weeks.
"Where have they been the last couple of years," the Virginia Democrat said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." "I mean, there's been 100% consistency. Everybody in the intelligence community, that Russia intervened, tried to break into our elections."
Russia's interference was confirmed by the "unanimous, bipartisan results" of the Republican-controlled Senate Intelligence Committee, Warner stressed.
"It was reconfirmed by the special prosecutor Robert Mueller investigation, and literally every one of Trump's law enforcement and intelligence appointees also pointed this out," said Warner.
He added that he wouldn't discuss his colleagues' specific talking points, but that he would be "absolutely explicit" that Ukraine did not interfere in the election.
"I'm going to say, everyone, including all of the Trump appointees, acknowledges Russia intervened," said Warner. "Anybody out there trying to spin this debunked theory in many ways is actually playing out the line that (Russian President) Vladimir Putin wants to be put out across the world."
Meanwhile, Warner said he's going to reserve his final judgment on Trump's impeachment until hearing all the evidence if it comes before the Senate.
"I would hope we all again would take a deep breath, and realize this is perhaps one of the most important things any of us would do as we're sworn in," said Warner.
