Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., trolled President Donald Trump for his hostile all-caps Iran tweet, asking Monday if President Trump was "planning to start a war to get re-elected."

Sanders reposted a 2011 Trump tweet that predicted then-President Barack Obama would start a war to get re-elected.

Trump's explosive tweet late Sunday followed Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's earlier remark "America must understand well that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace and war with Iran is the mother of all wars."

Iran Foreign Minister Javad Zarif fired back Iran is "unimpressed" with the Trump threat.

Tensions between the nations has followed Trump's withdrawal of the United States from the Iran nuclear deal earlier this year.
