Rep. Mark Walker announced he is running for the Senate in North Carolina in 2022.
Walker, a Republican and three-term congressman, did not seek reelection this year. His announcement came in a 4-minute and 18-second video posted online on Tuesday. The video highlighted endorsements from former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and others.
“I have the experience to fight and to win in Washington,” Walker says in the video.
And he told Politico: "We have an established record of being both a conservative and a bridge builder. I think that's something that's easy to be able to identify with the work that we've done, both for our people who believe in the ideology of limited government, but never getting past the place that we forgot about all of the communities that I represent."
Walker will run for the seat being vacated by GOP Sen. Richard Burr. Roll Call noted Burr had announced in 2016 he would not seek another term.
Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law is also said to be considering a Senate run in North Carolina, according to Politico.
