Mitt Romney has cast his ballot, but the 2012 GOP presidential nominee will not say who got the vote.

The former Massachusetts governor who now lives in Utah seems to have already ruled out the major contenders, calling the party's standard-bearer a "fraud" and Democrat Hillary Clinton "an awful candidate."

His spokeswoman wouldn't comment about Romney's choice, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

The newspaper reported local elections officials processed Romney's ballot and that of his wife, Ann, on Monday. Both cast absentee ballots – and were among nearly 297,000 voters in Utah whose votes have been processed by county clerks.

Romney's reticence is in contrast to other high-profile anti-Trump Republicans, including Ohio Gov. John Kasich, whom Trump defeated in the GOP primary, who said he wrote in 2008 nominee John McCain's name on his ballot.

Former presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, meanwhile, reportedly might vote for Clinton.

According to an averaging of polls in Utah by Real Clear Politics, Trump is ahead in the state with 31.3 percent, followed by Independent Ewan McMullin, with 25.3 percent and Clinton with 25 percent.
