Holding virtual campaigns fundraisers, events and interviews hasn’t stopped Joe Biden from reaching his supporters, he said Tuesday.
The former vice president told Las Vegas’ KLAS, 8 News NOW that staying at home hasn’t hurt his campaign trail efforts.
He told reporter Orko Manna he leads President Donald Trump in several national polls even as he remains at home, adding that he thinks the president’s continuous presence in the media is hurting his reelection efforts.
“We’ve had 112 million views of events like we’re doing now, roundtables as well, and major programs and interviews with local serious people like you, and so it hasn’t seemed to have slowed down the ability to be able to get an awful lot done,” Biden said. “Based on the outcome of all the national polling data, we seem to be doing very well. And as a matter of fact, in a bizarre way, the president, the more he’s out there the more he hurts himself, I think.”
And while Biden said he is “anxious to get out” and interact with people, he said, “there’s no evidence” that virtual campaigning has negatively impacted his support.
He mentioned polling where he is ahead in several Republican-led states.
“I’m not making the case that that means that determine the outcome, but thus far there is no evidence that ... us having to do it this way has cost us in terms of political support,” Biden said.
