Roy Moore's campaign manager Wednesday announced his plans to run for Congress, which would put him in a primary matchup against Republican incumbent Rep. Martha Roby in Alabama.
Rich Hobson made his intentions known on the steps of Alabama's Capitol.
"I walked with Chief Justice Roy Moore, twice, when he was attacked for standing for our values, and I paid the price," Hobson told the gathering, AL.com reported.
"I was his campaign manager in this last campaign, and all of us who were involved paid a price as we watched the liberal elite in America pull off the biggest political assassination of our time," Hobson said.
Hobson joins an already crowded Republican field; he's the third challenger to Roby for the June 5 primary, AL.com reported.
Roby was among many Republicans who went silent on Moore when the accusations of sexual misconduct began to mount, CNN reports.
But Hobson said he planned this a year ago, adding that he expects Moore to support his candidacy.
Hobson outlined his platform, AL.com reported:
- Rebuild the military through increased spending.
- Make taxes the lowest in the world.
- "Reminding America what made us great, our Judeo-Christian values."
- Full repeal of Obamacare.
- Construction of a southern border wall, saying the military should be used to secure the border while the wall is being constructed.
Moore campaigned on the same thing, AL.com reported.
