A plurality of voters think race relations are getting worse in the U.S., according to the latest poll from Rasmussen Reports published on Martin Luther King Day.
The results, according to Rasmussen:
- 45 percent say race relations are getting worse.
- 22 percent say race relations are getting better.
- 28 percent say race relations are about the same.
Further results from Rasmussen's survey:
- 22 percent say race relations are good to excellent.
- 28 percent say race relations are poor.
- 47 percent say race relations are fair.
Exactly half of black people surveyed believe race relations are getting worse, and 37 percent of black people say race relations are poor; 39 percent of black people said race relations are fair.
Among Republicans:
- 30 percent say race relations are good to excellent.
- 46 percent say race relations are fair.
- 21 percent say race relations are poor.
- 35 percent say race relations are getting worse.
- 34 percent say race relations are about the same.
- 29 percent say race relations are getting better.
Rasmussen Reports surveyed 1,000 American adults Jan. 10-11. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
