Poll Shows Tight Senate Race in Kentucky

Wednesday, 20 October 2010 08:32 PM EDT

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A political poll shows a tight race in Kentucky for the U.S. Senate.

The Kentucky Poll released Tuesday by WKYT-TV, the Lexington Herald-Leader and WAVE-TV shows Republican Rand Paul supported by 48 percent of likely voters and Conway favored by 43 percent. Nine percent are undecided.

Because of a sampling margin of error of plus or minus 4 points, that's a slight lead for Paul.

Mason-Dixon Polling & Research conducted the telephone survey of 625 voters Monday and Tuesday, after Conway's campaign began running a TV ad linking Paul to a secret society that mocked Christianity while he was a student at Baylor University. Paul has denounced the ad as shameful.
