Florida Gov. Rick Scott's proposed $87.4 billion budget is a case of government overspending, his fellow Republicans are grumbling.
The Miami Herald reports the spending plan, now in the hands of the legislature, is going to be challenged by a competing version drafted by other state lawmakers.
"Our goal is to pass a budget that's a lower dollar amount than the governor," said Rep. Carlos Trujillo, a Miami Republican and the lead budget writer in the House, told the newspaper.
And Florida GOP House Speaker Richard Corcoran added that Scott's proposal for a "property tax increase" is a no-go.
Scott insists the whopping dollar amount is an investment in Florida's future.
