PITTSBURGH (AP) — Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett has welcomed the support of about 50 Democrats, including a state legislator and some local officials, at a western Pennsylvania union hall.
Corbett, the state's attorney general, says Republicans can't win statewide races without Democrat support, and he says Friday's gathering in Pittsburgh was a snapshot of what he's seen on the campaign trial.
Corbett picked up the endorsement of Boilermakers Union Local 154, which hosted the event.
Fifty-year-old Elizabeth Dennis, of Pittsburgh, is just one Democrat who says she expects to vote for Corbett.
She says voters "can't be party committed. You have to be leader committed."
Democrat Dan Onorato's (ahn-oh-RAH'-toh's) spokesman says he doesn't have any comment on the event.
