It's "pretty laughable" for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to say President Donald Trump would need an "army" to protect him in New York, considering the Democrat governor's own record on coronavirus, the president's son Donald Trump Jr. said Thursday.
"Andrew Cuomo by any medical metric had the worst peformance on coronavirus, putting thousands of the elderly back in nursing homes when the only thing we knew about corona was that the elderly and people with preexisting conditions were the people most susceptible to it," Trump Jr. told Fox Business' "Mornings with Maria."
He added that people are fleeing New York because of the governor, but the "mainstream media that hates Donald Trump" give airtime to Cuomo.
"Florida has a larger population and more elderly population, yet they have one-tenth the death rate of incompetent Cuomo," he added. "I understand the Democrat Party is the party of participation medals, but being number 50 out 50 in dealing with the pandemic is not an accolade I want to be running on."
Meanwhile, the president is trailing Biden in Florida, according to the RealClearPolitics average, but his son said he doesn't put much faith in polling.
"You have seen what Joe Biden voters are doing," Trump Jr. said. "Democratic voters, they are rioting, looting. Cancel culture, (they) push on anyone with conservative values."
He also asked why Biden would wait "a half century" to deliver for Americans, "when the policies that he actually voted on, policies he pushed so heavily, did more to build China than he ever did for the United States."
Biden is also leading the president in several other states, noted the show, but Trump Jr. said he doesn't think the margins are correct.
"We are in an uneven, very unfair playing field when you have a mainstream media, 95.5 percent liberal, pushing all causes, so we have to work that much harder, more efficiently," he said.
