Trump Draws Record Crowd in Michigan; 'Unlikely' Run for President

By    |   Wednesday, 22 May 2013 03:38 PM EDT

Donald Trump says it's "highly unlikely" he'll run for president.

Speaking at a Lincoln Day dinner in Michigan on Tuesday night, the business magnate and reality TV star said he is constantly asked to run for president in 2016 or to give his endorsement. Trump toyed with running as a Republican in 2012, but backed out.

"Everybody tells me, 'Please run for president. Please run for president,'" Trump told The Oakland Press before the event. "I would be much happier if a great and competent person came along. I’d be happy if President Obama did a great job. I’m a Republican, but before anything, I love this country."

Trump predicted Hillary Clinton will win the Democratic nomination for president in 2016. Polls show her with a double-digit lead over Vice President Joe Biden and other possible contenders.

Trump said that if he isn't being asked to run, he's being asked for his backing.

“It seems that everybody who runs for office wants my support. I will say (the Republican Party) has to pick the right candidate because it will not be an easy election in three years,” he said. “If they don’t pick the right person, it will be a landslide.”
