President Donald Trump on Monday morning tweeted out an attack on Pakistan and threatened to halt aid the United States gives to the South Asian nation.
His message comes after the administration announced a few days ago that the U.S. will deny Pakistan $255 million in military aid, because “The president has made clear that the United States expects Pakistan to take decisive action against terrorists and militants on its soil,” hindustantimes.com reported.
The U.S. had already warned in August that it would withhold the $255 million until Islamabad did more to crack down on terrorist groups, according to The Economic Times.
The decision to withhold the aid reportedly followed Pakistan’s refusal to hand over to the Americans an operative of the Haqqani Network caught during the rescue of an American-Canadian family in October, according to the hindustantimes.
The Haqqani Network, an affiliate of the Afghan Taliban which operates out of Pakistan, has killed and wounded many of the American-led international coalition forces in Afghanistan.
