Former Trump campaign advisers will act as senior advisers to Alaskan Kelly Tshibaka's 2022 midterm senate campaign, reports Politico.

Kelly Tshibaka, a state commissioner of administration who stepped down from her role on Monday,  will be challenging the Alaskan senate seat currently held by Sen. Murkowski, one of seven Republicans that voted to convict President Donald Trump after the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol.

Earlier this month, according to Politico, the former president said "I do not know where other people will be next year, but I know where I will be — in Alaska campaigning against a disloyal and very bad senator."

Tshibaka's senior advisers will be 2020 Trump campaign advisers Bill Stepien, deputy campaign manager Justin Clark, and battleground states director Nick Trainer. Mary Ann Pruitt, a former political consultant for Sen. Murkowski, has agreed to advise Tshibaka instead.

It is unclear, but no one said that the former president directly recruited Tshibaka. However, people in the Trump's sphere have been looking for someone to challenge the incumbent senator. Challengers of the incumbent will have the deck stacked against them with Alaska's new ranked-choice voting system; the top four finishers of an all-party primary move onto the general election.

Murkowski, who won reelection in 2010 under a write-in ballot, will have an easier time running due to the new voting system than in the previous election.
