More than 100,000 visas have been revoked in the wake of the Trump administrations recent travel ban on citizens of seven mainly Muslim countries, The Washington Post reported from court proceedings Friday in federal court.
The number came out from a government attorney during a hearing in Alexandria, Va., in a lawsuit filed by two Yemeni brothers.
Erez Reuveni, an attorney with the Justice Department's Office of Immigration Litigation, cited the revocation of the 100K visas but could not say how many people were sent back to their home countries from Dulles Airport, the Post reported.
"I have never had so much public outpouring as I've seen in this case," Judge Leonie Brinkema said in court, the Post reported. "This order touched something in the United States that I've never seen before. It's amazing."
Brinkema declined to hold government officials in contempt over the handling of affected travelers last weekend, saying she did not have enough information to make that determination, the Post reported.
