The Trump administration will move forward with tariffs on steel and aluminum, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said Wednesday.
"We are definitely going to end up with these tariffs, and we're going to roll this out very, very quickly," Mnuchin told Fox Business' "Mornings With Maria."
The White House is providing waivers for some countries, he continued, but President Donald Trump had made no decisions about that yet, and he is also not interested in a trade war over the tariffs.
"He's not afraid to get into a trade war, although that's not what we want. Let's be very clear. We're not looking into getting into trade wars," Mnuchin said. "We just want free and fair and reciprocal trade."
Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross also weighed in on tariffs Wednesday, telling CNBC: "We're not trying to blow up the world. There's no intention of that… we're not looking for a trade war. We're going to have very sensible relations with our allies."
