President Donald Trump said he hopes the sexual assault claims against his presumptive opponent Joe Biden aren’t true.
During a nearly hour-long phone interview with “Fox & Friends” on Friday, Trump said he doesn’t know if the allegation that Biden sexually assaulted a former aide is true or false.
“Look, he’s got to fight that battle,” Trump said. “I’ve had battles too where I’ve had false accusations many times. I don’t know if it’s false or not, I mean Joe’s gonna have to be able to prove whatever he has to prove, or she has to prove it, but that’s a battle he has to fight.”
He said he knows what it is like to have a false accusation made against him and he hopes the complaint against Biden is false for “his sake.”
“I’ve had many false accusations made, I can tell you that, many, and maybe it is a false accusation, frankly, I hope it is for his sake,” he said.
Tara Reade alleges she was sexually assaulted by Biden when she worked as an aide in his Senate office in 1993.
On Thursday, she told Megyn Kelly Biden should drop out of the presidential race and said she would take a lie detector test if Biden took one.
Biden has denied the charges saying the incident never happened.
