President Donald Trump on Tuesday retweeted last week's endorsement of incumbent Tennessee Rep. David Kustoff and encouraged residents to "get out and vote for David" in next Thursday's Republican primary.
Trump said Kustoff, 51, who is seeking his second term, "is strong on crime and borders, loves our military, vets and Second Amendment" in the post:
Trump first tweeted the endorsement Friday.
Kustoff, a former prosecutor, is squaring off against George Flinn, a radiologist and broadcast-station owner who has frequently run for office, in the Aug. 2 primary.
Flinn has spent $2.7 million of his own money on the race, versus over $1 million spent by Kustoff, according to local news reports.
