President Donald Trump is touting a poll showing his approval rating at 50%, posting a large photo of himself at a presidential campaign rally and saying that the successes continue despite efforts being made against him and his administration.
"Despite the Phony Witch Hunt, we will continue to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! Thank you!!" he proclaimed in a tweet issued Monday night.
The photo Trump shared indicated, at the bottom, that the 50% rating comes from a Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential tracking poll for Monday. It showed:
- 50% of likely voters approve of Trump's job performance;
- 45% disapprove;
- 35% strongly approve of the job Trump is doing;
- 40% strongly disapprove.
- The numbers gave Trump a Rasmussen Presidential Approval Index rating of -5.
According to overall Rasmussen daily polling records, the president's daily approval ratings have been hovering at around 50% since the first of the year.
Rasmussen conducts the results through telephone surveys of 500 likely voters each evening and reports them on a three-day rolling average basis. It also uses an online survey tool to interview randomly selected participants. The margin of error for the full sample of 1,500 likely voters is plus or minus 2.5 percentage points, with a 95% level of confidence.
